Wood Waste / Mulch

The Lycoming County Resource Management Services Department (LCRMS) has received a Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Municipal Waste General Permit for the grinding of clean wood at our facility.

Acceptable and Unacceptable Wood for Recycling Printout

The permit requires:

    1. Acceptable materials: non-pressure treated scrap lumber, unpainted wooden pallets and warehouse type skids, cable spools and marine grade plywood.
    2. Unacceptable materials: laminated wood, particleboard, pressure treated lumber, and painted wooden pallets.

Despite quality control checks of the scrap lumber pile, small amounts of the above listed non-acceptable materials may be contained in the ground wood product.

  2. Product chip size is regulated to a nominal 2” to 4”.

Ground wood is available to wholesale mulch and landscaping operators and for other industrial/commercial operations. The hours of operation for the loading of ground material are:

LCRMS thanks you for your cooperation with our wood grind/waste reduction program. Please feel free to call (800) 326-9571 if you have questions concerning the wood grinding operation.
