Notice of Land Records Software Company and system change in The Register and Recorder Office:
The Register and Recorder Office is officially announcing that Info Quick Solutions (IQS) will replace Avenu (LandMarc system) on August 1, 2025.

Please follow the Lycoming County, PA Register and Recorder Web Page starting now for general information and updates leading up to Monday, August 4, 2025 which is the scheduled start date for recordings and new business transaction activity.

Note that the Register and Recorder Office will not be recording on the following dates as we transition to the new company:

Wed., July 30

Thursday, July 31

Friday, August 1

Please plan accordingly.

We plan to start recording again Monday afternoon, August 4.  Thank you for your patience and understanding during this period.

We will keep the same recording hours at the front counter up to and including Tuesday, July 29 (9-4).

We will communicate the new public search site as soon as it becomes available.  In the meantime, continue to attempt access through “ pa.uslandrecords.com.”  We will provide a link to the new IQS public search as soon as it becomes available to us.

IQS representatives will be available “in person” to help train the public in the Register and Recorder Office on the new system, likely starting Tuesday, August 5.  They will be available until Friday, August 8 and beyond.

This affects land records only, not the Register of Wills and the Orphans’ Court that operates with a separate software company (Teleosoft).

We want to thank Avenu for its many years of service to Lycoming County as we enthusiastically welcome IQS to Lycoming County.

HISTORIC MOMENTS IN TIME

Jordan Township is the subject of this "Historic Moment in Time" for Lycoming County, PA.  Jordan Township was formed on February 7, 1854 from the eastern part of Franklin Township.  It was named in honor of Alexander Jordan who was the president judge of the district court.  The lumber industry was a big part of the early beginnings of the township history.  Unityville is a well-known familar village that is still a big part of modern day Jordan Township.  It once included a grist mill.

It is believed that William Lore could have been the first settler in or about the year 1812.

We encourage you to go on-line to explore more about the history of Jordan Township (and other parts of Lycoming County, as well).  You could start by seeing a William Lore deed that provides some very interesting historical insight into Jordan Township.  Go to pa.uslandrecords.com for your search --- there is a pull-down menu for Lycoming County there.

Learn more about Lycoming County history in the Register and Recorder office.  Office hours are 8:30-5:00 Monday thru Friday.  You can also go online at pa.uslandrecords.com.

GENEALOGY

We are pleased to do simple genealogy requests from the Register and Recorder Office, if we have the time and adequate information available to us. For more involved genealogical  projects, please consult outside sources. For example, the Taber Museum is a good source of information in Lycoming County (570-326-3326). In addition to personal research, the museum is a helpful resource on residential (housing) research in addition to business historical research. History@DevelopingHistory.com is an email address for the museum. Also try https://tabermuseum.org/collections-research/genealogy. The James V. Browh Library (570-326-0536) is also a major source for genealogical information. Of course, there is always the Genealogical Society (LCGSgen@aol.com).
