NOMINATION PAPERS

NOVEMBER 7, 2017 MUNICIPAL ELECTION

Candidates seeking the nomination of a third party do not participate in the Democratic or Republican primary process; instead, they file Nomination Papers to place their names directly onto the November ballot.

Important Dates

Wednesday, March 8. FIRST DAY on which Nomination Papers may be circulated and signatures obtained by candidates seeking the nomination of a minor political party or a minor political body (commonly known as a “third party”). Nomination Papers will be available at the Office of Voter Services to be picked up.

Tuesday, August 1. LAST DAY on which Nomination Papers may be circulated and signatures obtained. Nomination Papers and all other required documents and fees must be filed with the Office of Voter Services before 5:00pm in order for the candidate’s name to appear on the ballot. This is a deadline set by state law and a court order; it is not negotiable and there are no exceptions.
