                                                                                            CERTIFICATION BY ENDORSEMENT

Providers seeking certification by endorsement (previously reciprocity) must present themselves at a Pennsylvania Regional EMS council office and bring a government issued photo ID to complete the reciprocity process.   

For EMT certification by endorsement you must:

  1. Be 16 years of age or older.
  2. Be currently certified as an EMT in another state.
  3. Have successfully completed a training curriculum that meets or exceeds the standards of the Department’s prescribed course (U.S. Department of Education National Education Standards for EMT).
  4. Have successfully completed another state’s written examination for EMT certification, which the Department determines to meet  or exceed the written examination standards prescribed by the Department.
  5. Have successfully completed another state’s practical skills examination for EMT certification, which the Department determines to meet or exceed the practical skills examination standards prescribed by the Department.
  6. Be current in CPR and have a current CPR card as defined by current PA EMS bulletin.
  7. Provide a copy of a government issued photo ID.

Please complete the following forms and return all required documents to the council office. 

 

For PARAMEDIC certification by endorsement you must:

  1. Be 16 years of age or older.
  2. Be currently certified as a PARAMEDIC in another state.
  3. Have successfully completed a training curriculum that meets or exceeds the standards of the Department’s prescribed course (U.S. Department of Education National Education Standards for PARAMEDIC).
  4. Have successfully completed another state’s written examination for PARAMEDIC certification, which the Department determines to meet or exceed the written examination standards prescribed by the Department.
  5. Have successfully completed another state’s practical skills examination for PARAMEDIC certification, which the Department determines to meet or exceed the practical skills examination standards prescribed by the Department.
  6. Be current in CPR and have a current CPR card as defined by current PA EMS bulletin.
  7. Provide a copy of a government issued photo ID.
