Public Information & Education

The role of EMS providers and personnel, in preventing injury and illness, is critical to a functioning EMS system. EMS personnel should partner with the local prevention community whenever possible. It is the LTS EMS Council's goal to mobilize our EMS Personnel to serve as ambassadors within their respective communities and organizations.

Preparing You Pets for Emergencies 

A website designed by "Ready.gov" through the Department of Homeland Security to assist pet owners prepare for disasters.  Has downloadable resources to develop readiness supplies, disaster plans, and overall preparedness.

Poison Control Center 

Link to the National Poison Control Web Portal.  Download poison information, fact sheets, statistics, or order poison control resource materials on-line.  Calling the National Hotline will connect callers with the closest center to their geographic location.

SafeKids

Pennsylvania SafeKids Coalition.  Downloadable resource materials on safety, internet usage for kids, traffic safety, guidelines for parents and more.  

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA)

Injury Prevention Resources for traffic laws, bicycles, trauma, child passenger safety, "drowsy" driving, EMS, motorcycles, new drivers, older drivers, pedestrians, school bus safety, and speed management.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation

PENNDOT has created this site for teen drivers.On it, eight young drivers share their stories of driving tragedies (or near tragedies).When you click on one of the drivers you'll hear some of them tell their story as key phrases appear on the screen. After each story ends you can take a quiz ondriving skills. You can also jump right to the quiz for each driver.

US Department of Helath & Human Services/ Administration for Children & Families

Developing and sustaining child abuse prevention programs in tough times: An online toolkit.  Contains information, tools and examples to help the programs continue their important work of child abuse prevention, faced with recent budget cuts and difficult economic times.

Children's Safety Network (CNS)

Child Abuse Prevention Resource Available From CSN:CSN has recently released this new web-based resource of state and regional tables and charts depicting the costs of child abuse related injuries. It is available from the Children's Safety Network's Economics and Data Analysis Resource Center (EDARC).

Gift of Life Donor Program

The non-profit agency serving the eastern half of Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware, is responsible for recovering and distributing organs and tissues used in life-saving and life-enhancing transplants.  Free educational materials available.
