COUNTY OF LYCOMING TAX CLAIM BUREAU

The Tax Claim Bureau is responsible for collecting delinquent real estate taxes for the 7 school districts and the 60 townships/boroughs located throughout Lycoming County.
All real estate taxes are considered delinquent if not paid by December 31st of the current year. Any unpaid taxes are returned to the Tax Claim Bureau during the month of January are assessed with a filing fee of $15.00 per tax returned. Interest begins to accrue in February at a rate of 9% annually. The Tax Claim Bureau conducts two regular tax sales each year. UPSET TAX SALES are held during the month of September and JUDICIAL SALES are held in October of each year.
Delinquent real estate taxes may be paid to the bureau at any time prior to the 2nd year of delinquency. For up-to-date delinquent amounts due - please call (570) 327-2269 or e-mail your inquiries to taxclaim@lyco.org.

Upset Tax Sales
Upset Tax Sales are conducted for the purpose of collecting delinquent real estate taxes owed on any properties in Lycoming County and are held during the month of September of each year.

Judicial Tax Sales
Judicial sales are conducted for properties not sold at the September upset sale. Judicial Sales are ordered by the Lycoming County Court of Common Pleas and is sometimes referred to as the “Free & Clear” sales since all tax and municipal liens are discharged as well as mortgages and other filed liens. Judicial Tax Sale Lists are available at the County Tax Claim Bureau only. No fax requests or online lists are available.

Repository Sale List
Effective February 15, 2008 - The County of Lycoming requires a Minimum Bid of $250.00 per parcel for any REPOSITORY PROPERTY LISTING.
Repository Sale Properties are those that were not purchased at any previous conducted Judicial Tax Sale. Repository sales are held at the discretion of the Tax Claim Bureau Director. Listed below are current properties on the County of Lycoming Tax Claim Repository List. Offers for purchase may be made in writing to the County of Lycoming Tax Claim Bureau (Offer sheet). If your offer is accepted, we will require an affidavit, signed by each purchaser and notarized.
