Welcome to the County of Lycoming
Citizen Corps Council

In answer to a request from the President of the United States, the Commissioners of the County of Lycoming have organized the
“Lycoming County Citizen Corps Council”
Citizen Corps is a component of the USA Freedom Corps that creates opportunities for citizens to help their communities in a variety of ways. The core of the Citizen Corps philosophy is that citizens who are better prepared to take care of themselves (and their neighbors) in times of crisis will enhance preparedness and response.
The County Citizen Corps Council will encourage and assist municipalities to form their own Citizen Corps Councils and will provide training opportunities and contacts for community programs including training for community emergency response teams, homeland security, neighborhood watch, fire, medical and many others.
A continuing effort will be made to meld existing volunteer service organizations, community action groups and related programs into the Citizen Corps initiative.
Citizen Corps is a neighbor-helping-neighbor program encouraging all citizens to become a volunteer for their local emergency response organization.
